We used 2x8's for the joists on the second floor. Note there is an opening for the stairs.
The stairs will be "L" shaped with a landing half way up. There will be 13 stairs counting the landing. Each stair will have a rise of 6 7/8" and a run of 11". It is best to keep your rise around 6" and your stair treads (run) about 11".
